LEARNING COACH
Shawn (he/him) holds a Master of Education and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Learning Disability Studies. He has extensive experience supporting university and college students with disabilities through accessibility and accommodation services. His areas of expertise include academic coaching, learning strategies, assistive technology, academic accommodations, and disability-related counselling.
Shawn currently works as a Senior Specialist in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility at an Ontario university. In this role, he advises on accessibility matters and the duty to accommodate, develops educational initiatives, and works with university leaders to identify and address barriers to inclusion. He also brings ongoing experience as a college professor, giving him a practical understanding of the academic expectations students are navigating.
As a coach, Shawn works collaboratively with students to break down complex academic demands, develop realistic plans, and identify strategies and technologies that fit the way they learn. His approach is practical, strengths-based, and focused on helping students build confidence, self-awareness, and greater independence in their studies.
