LEARNING COACH

Nisha Toomey holds a PhD in Social Justice Education from the University of Toronto- Ontario Institute for Studies in Education; a Master’s in Education from the University of Ottawa; and was a postdoctoral fellow at York University.

She currently works as a research fellow with the Myanmar Policy and Community Knowledge Hub at the University of Toronto. Nisha spent years working with refugee and undocumented young people, including along the Myanmar-Thailand border and in New York, always in educational spaces. Her great passion is to teach about complex ideas in ways that a broad audience can learn from, and she has developed curriculum and workshops in diverse formats.

Having worked across cultures, social contexts and educational backgrounds, equity and accessibility have been core to all of Nisha’s work. When not teaching and writing, you’ll find her hiking in the forest with her children.
