LEARNING COACH

If you’re looking for a learning coach who gets it, you’re in the right place. When he’s not coaching, Jay’s navigating life as a dad to two amazing young adults (his 25-year-old daughter and 23-year-old son), which means he has a healthy appreciation for the chaotic grind of the college and university years. He also knows firsthand that the academic journey is rarely a straight line. Learning can be incredibly tough, but he firmly believes that when you face those challenges together, you can unlock some amazing, creative solidarity and find strategies that actually work for you.

For the past 26 years, Jay has been working as a high school math and science teacher, tech consultant, and IB Coordinator. He has a BSc (Hons) from Acadia and an MEd in Tech from Memorial University. Translation? He knows his way around complex science, big research projects, and—most importantly—how to handle the overwhelming tsunami of modern technology. If you are trying to figure out how to use tools like AI to amplify your studies without letting them shortcut your actual learning, Jay’s your guy. Together, you’ll work to make technology a superpower, not a distraction. His coaching philosophy is simple: success is built brick by brick. Whether you’re trying to master a brutal syllabus, manage your time, or just find your academic footing, he believes the only competition that matters is you vs. yesterday-you. Little, consistent improvements add up to massive results.

When he’s not coaching, you can find him hiking, snowshoeing, paddleboarding, beaching, lifting weights, or instructing fitness classes to keep his own mind and body healthy. Let’s team up, tackle the hard things together, and build the confidence you need to absolutely crush your goals!
