Educational-Psychological Assessments are comprehensive, standardized assessments used to evaluate how an individual’s unique learning style might lead to barriers in an educational context. These barriers to learning could include a learning disability, ADHD, or mood disorders such as anxiety or depression. We offer Educational-Psychological Assessments as a point of access for students who require documentation to receive support and accommodations. An assessment can provide valuable insights into a person’s learning strengths and challenges and empower individuals to advocate for their rights as a learner. The information obtained through an Educational-Psychological Assessment can help to ensure students have full access to their learning.
We offer timely Educational-Psychological Assessments for students entering or currently in post-secondary programs who require a completed assessment as a point of access for support and services.
We support students to access the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment to cover the cost of assessments with us. For students who do not have access to grant funding, we have reduced rate assessment options available as well.
Students wishing to access an assessment with us will participate in an Assessment Intake with one of our accessibility coordinators. We work collaboratively with the student to determine which assessment is the right access point for the student.
An assessment can help you understand your strengths and barriers as a learner and verify your disability. Our assessment services can also help you access post-secondary learning accommodations, disability grant funding, and additional services and equipment needed for full access, such as academic strategy instruction, tutoring support, assistive technology, and more.
An assessment serves as a gateway for post-secondary students to access tailored accommodations that support their individual learning needs. Through this process, students become eligible for resources like the Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities, which provides financial support to obtain necessary tools and services for learning. In addition to accommodations, assessments often provide recommendations for assistive technology, specialized tutoring, and other supports that promote an inclusive learning environment. By identifying each student’s unique strengths and areas for growth, assessments empower students to utilize effective strategies, ensuring they can fully engage with their studies and reach their academic potential.
Learning disabilities are often caused by genetic or neurobiological factors that affect brain functioning and can impact cognitive processes essential for learning. This can interfere with core academic skills like reading, writing, and math, making it challenging for students to keep up with traditional learning methods.
