My Learning Coach About

Our Story

MyLearningCoach was founded in 2020 by Deanna Fidelak, an educator, accessibility professional, and advocate who understands first-hand how challenging post-secondary education can be when learning isn’t designed with everyone in mind. Deanna is a proud graduate of the University of Alberta, with a Bachelor of Education in Special Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, and a Teacher Leadership Certificate from the University of Upper Iowa.

Deanna’s work is deeply informed by her lived experience. As a student with learning disabilities and ADHD, she knows what it’s like to navigate post-secondary education while managing invisible barriers. She is also a first-generation university graduate who completed graduate school as a single parent while working full-time. These experiences shape the way MyLearningCoach supports students—with empathy, understanding, and respect for each student’s unique journey.

Through her work in post-secondary accessibility and educational psychology, and her earlier experience as a K–12 teacher, inclusive education coordinator, and school leader, Deanna saw how often students were unable to access the support they needed. MyLearningCoach was created to change that. We work collaboratively with post-secondary accessibility professionals to ensure students who experience disability-related barriers are provided with timely, appropriate, and meaningful access to support—without unnecessary hurdles.

MyLearningCoach is a team of caring, highly qualified educational professionals who work alongside students to support their learning, goals, and well-being. We offer a range of academic coaching services, including academic strategy instruction, tutoring, assistive technology consultation support, academic and accessibility advising, access to educational-psychological assessments, and more. Our support is personalized, collaborative, and strengths-based, and is delivered virtually to students across Canada.

We also understand that cost can be a barrier. Whenever possible, we help eligible students access disability grant funding to help cover the cost of services—because getting support shouldn’t depend on your financial situation.

Our Mission, Vision &
Core Value

At MyLearningCoach, our mission is to collaborate with post-secondary students and accessibility professionals to ensure students have full access to the supports needed for an equitable education.

We imagine a future where post-secondary students are provided with access to educational services that mitigate disability-related barriers to learning. To facilitate this, we work collaboratively with post-secondary students and accessibility professionals across Canada to make learning more accessible and barrier-free.

Accessibility is our core value and the foundation of our work. Through collaboration, innovation, and student empowerment, we ensure post-secondary students are provided with the services and support they need to succeed.
