LEARNING COACH
Darlene has spent over 20 years helping students with disabilities of all ages build skills and confidence in their learning. Based in Ontario, she holds a degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Clinical Science in Communicative Disorders from Western University. Since 2019, she has been a Learning Strategist at Algonquin College, supporting post-secondary students, including those in apprenticeship programs.
Darlene works with students who struggle with focus, organization, procrastination, note taking, reading, writing, and other academic challenges. She has experience supporting individuals with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, brain injuries, and other learning differences. Her approach focuses on practical, personalized strategies for time management, memory, executive functions, self-regulation, social communication and overall academic success.
Her goal is to help students understand best learning practices and develop tools to navigate school with less stress, that includes assistive technology. She believes learning should feel empowering—not overwhelming—and is passionate about helping students build confidence and independence.
Darlene enjoys canoeing, hiking, x-country skiing, yoga, and spending time with her family, friends and dog, Bruno.
